Door money is the amount of money a promoter makes from selling tickets they have on hand to promoters, not from ticket sales. In most cases, they will give you a percentage. When they have a large chunk of tickets they don’t want, they will allow promoters to buy them from them at a fraction of face value. The artist or band gets a cut of that money and the promoter takes a cut. It is not unusual for a promoter to give a door person an additional 10% of the door money, if it’s a good show.
